Is Swimming in Stones an Australian brand?

Yes, Swimming in Stones is the passion of Sydney-based designer Lisa Milner. Lisa designs every piece in Sydney, but in 2010 set out to collaborate with the world's artisans to connect with people through jewellery that is respectful of culture, craftsmanship, people and our planet. Our mission is to create jewellery that is meaningful to the wearer.

Where is Swimming in Stones jewellery made?

Our custom jewellery designs are handcrafted in our bespoke studio in Jaipur, India. We incorporate traditional techniques and focus on unique, meaningful designs. Sixth generation Artisans, many of whom are illiterate, inherit the secrets of the family craft. Up to ten Artisans are employed on any one piece. We are creating opportunities for our Artisans to remain gainfully employed today, but proudly support their desires to keep their heritage alive for future generations.

Who is Swimming in Stones jewellery designed for?

Everyday aesthetes; kindred souls with a love of art, culture and nature. Your heart will connect with the care, passion and story behind every piece; all the little detail in the craftsmanship and exquisite natural gemstones. Our mission is to create jewellery that is meaningful to the wearer.

What are the benefits of using natural gemstones?

Swimming in Stones is built around a passion for natural gemstones, to us, they’re all precious (even the ones classified semi precious). There isn’t an exhaustive pool of natural gemstones, each stone has formed over millions of years within our Earth, they are a connection to our planet worn close to the skin. Their distinctiveness, with unique inclusions, patterns, and colour variations that make each gemstone one-of-a-kind providing endless design possibilities. Their durability, value, size and appeal make them not only wonderful heirlooms, but personal talismans able to hold lifelong significance. Spiritual properties are subjective and vary across different belief systems and cultures. But one thing is for certain though, humanity has revered gemstones through the ages. Each piece is as unique as its custodian.

What metals are used in your jewellery?

We work with high-quality metals to make sure your jewellery shines for years to come. Our materials include 925 Sterling Silver, 22ct Gold Vermeil, Bold-plated brass, and Silver-plated brass. Each one offers its own unique beauty and durability. Completely nickel free.

What’s the difference between semi-fine and demi-fine jewellery?

Semi-precious jewellery includes gorgeous gemstones that are a bit less rare than precious stones, but they’re just as beautiful. Demi-fine jewellery, like ours, uses quality materials—such as gold vermeil—to offer the luxury of fine jewellery at a more accessible price, so you get the best of both worlds!

How can I find the right ring size?

Most of our rings come with an open back which allows for a firm adjustment that fits most. Otherwise, let us help you find the perfect fit. Remember to measure the correct finger on the correct hand, as they'll vary in size. To ensure that the ring fits over your knuckle, we suggest you take your measurement when your hands are warm, as cold weather can shrink your finger.

If you’re still unsure, just reach out—we’re here to help you find the ideal size.
